When California went into lockdown due to the pandemic, Keya Tama left his studio in Los Angeles and went to Yucca Valley. He continued his work, filling sketchbooks with images of exotic animals and publishing the work on Instagram with captions. The idea was simple: “I wanted to connect animals with facts that made people think about the big picture differently.” Out of his sketchbooks and on to these hand-silkscreened pillowcases, now Tama’s animals can get the attention they deserve. We all need to be reminded of the big picture, right?
