David Shillinglaw
Born in Saudi Arabia to British parents, David Shillinglaw grew up in London. He drew and doodled from an early age, taking his inspiration from cartoons and comics, and his enduring fascination with art ultimately led him to London’s esteemed Central Saint Martins.
Shillinglaw ‘s works explore human nature, success and failure, and language people use to describe their experiences. His practice shifts between the street and studio using a variety of materials and mediums creating work that ranges from drawings and collages, to large scale murals and installations. He carries a sketchbook at all times and juggles between different ones depending on the subjects or the media used. This approach carries over to the studio, where Shillinglaw often has several pieces on the go at the same time.
Shillinglaw has painted murals and shown in galleries around the globe. He currently makes his home in Margate, England.
